I am driven, patient and hardworking; traits which I ensure to apply to the workplace as well as part of my personality. I pride myself on being passionate about representing not only myself but the company or organisation for whom I work.
I currently work for University of East Anglia’s Students’ Union, and before this was an Elected Sabbatical Officer at Winchester Student Union at the University of Winchester where I did my degree in English and Sociology. I have a vested interest in Higher Education and in student empowerment. I enjoy working on projects, campaigns and tasks both as part of a team or as an individual.
Over my time at University I also volunteered at the visitors’ centre of Winchester Prison. I found this hugely rewarding and a massive learning curve. It gave me insight into the difficulties faced by families and friends of those with a loved one in prison, improved my communication skills and allowed me to undergo several Safeguarding Training sessions.
On a personal level, I am passionate about mental health and myself and my family have done several fundraising activities for the mental health charity Mind, including my participation in 2012 and 2013’s 10 mile Great South Run in Portsmouth. I am also doing a 100km walk from London to Cambridge in July 2016.
